We had Monkey 68 on our list to try for a while and booked it for a friend's birthday with a large party of 17. I called ahead to confirm they could accommodate a big group, and they assured me they had a party room and that it would be no problem. Leading up to the event, they were very accommodating and easy to work with. Unfortunately, the actual experience fell short. The food was pretty good when it actually arrived, but the service is where things went wrong. Our server was very nice, but there was only one server for all 17 of us, and they were clearly very overwhelmed. Drinks were repeatedly missed or delayed. Several appetizers never came and had to be re-ordered. At one point the server poured water into someone's glass of champagne, and when we flagged it, they didn't offer to replace the champagne, and I had to ask multiple times just to get water instead. When the entrees started to come out, a lot of it was missing, and one person didn't get their food until everyone else had already finished eating (and after we had to reorder it). One person ended up canceling her order altogether because she didn't want to keep waiting. We had to get up multiple times to track so

Monkey 68 is a go-to spot for us for sushi. They have lots of unique options for sushi rolls and we always love what we order. We also got the Tuna Crispy Rice and it was delicious, also a generous portion for being an appetizer. The staff is always so nice and welcoming. We also love the drink menu.

TL;DR - Monkey 68 gets a 3 out of 5 from me. The food had a strong highlight with the Bang Bang Shrimp, and I appreciated the Mother’s Day special, but parking was frustrating and the service brought the overall experience down. I thought it was a great touch that they had a Mother’s Day special. Little things like that make the visit feel more thoughtful, especially when you’re dining out for an occasion. Food-wise, the Bang Bang Shrimp was the standout for me. It was crispy, tasty, and honestly amazing. Based on what I tried, I’d give the food a 4 out of 5. Service was where the experience struggled. It felt subpar, and we kept having to wait for our waiter to refill the water. I don’t need constant attention, but basic check-ins would have helped a lot. For service, I’d give it a 2 out of 5. Parking was also awful. I honestly don’t know where people find parking around here. Maybe I’m just missing the obvious sign, but it was not easy. Atmosphere-wise, I’d put it at a 3 out of 5. Overall, Monkey 68 lands at 3 out of 5 for me.

The food is delicious especially the calamari, it’s crispy outside but buttery soft inside. One of the best I have had. Love the modern industrial deco. The host is super cute and nice… highly recommend!

Wow, just wow. We had the Omakase and it was an amazing experience. Gustavo is an artist. We basically had a privately curated meal with the freshest sushi. Every single course was so good. I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy regular sushi ever again. The sake really pushed everything to the next level. I can’t recommend this place enough. Even the general manager was awesome! You can tell their staff, especially Gustavo, was so knowledgeable and talented. Thank you guys for the great experience!
